Wilfred Owen, a British poet, was 25 years old when he was killed in action, in November 1918, just one week before the end of WW1. After being injured, Owen could have avoided a return to the front, but felt a duty to record the experiences of his comrades.
His poems, cruel descriptions of the hell of war, are still painfully lively today. How does the reality of war resonate with today’s youngsters? Only slightly younger than Owen, they would have been fighting on the front a hundred years ago.
