The Savage Bull

A radiophonic diptych detailing the brutality of war, closer to a radio poem than anything else, but also utilising conventions from radio drama and experimental music. It begins with the Holocaust, train journey, selection, cryptic and horrific "examinations", "showers", work detail and murder. The second part moves closer to our own time and the recent horrific events surrounding Gaza. Here we have arbitrary murder, coercion, occupation, austere lifestyles, containment, invasion, technology as an instrument for killing, propaganda, appeasement, grief. The piece is firmly based in fact, but treated at times with forward looking experimental techniques (largely from the world of music). Winner of the URTI International Radio Grand Prix 2014
