On February 14th URTI also organized the annual meeting of the WRD International Committee. This meeting aimed at developing cooperation and coordination between the Committee’s members and between them and UNESCO so as to spread World Radio Day celebrations worldwide promoting at the same time the values and vision of radio professionals.
The International Committee meeting was the occasion to assess past initiatives and to define a strategy for their future development. The WRD13.com platform that is currently managed by URTI and whose success keeps growing year after year, should change its name in 2015 (so to become independent from number “13”) and become a basis for new initiatives.
At URTI’s request, three new organisations were included by the Committee: COPEAM, IBU and RAPAF.
The Committee also agreed on an ITU proposal to organize 2015 International Committee activities in honour of World Radio Day in the framework of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the agency. The EBU was appointed to be the Committee Coordinator for 2014-2015.
