The URTI official selection of the 10 finalist documentaries

The preselection Jury of the 33rd edition of the International URTI Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary, made up of managers from public television channels of fourteen countries, met in Paris from April 14 to 17, 2014 in order to draw up the official selection of the ten finalist documentaries:

  • Bomb survivors: Fighting an Endless Assault (Yasuhiro Yaku, Ryoei Nagano & Mamoru Ichikawa) NHK (Japan)
  • Camp 14  (Marc Wiese) - WDR (Germany)
  • Frameworks, images of a changing world  (Helen Doyle) - Radio Canada (Canada)
  • Front Row: Orphaned (Joseph Israel Laban) - GMA News TV (The Philippines)
  • Le journal de Schéhérazade (Zeina Daccache) - Catharsis-Lebanese Center for Drama Therapy (Lebanon)
  • Mohamed and the fisherman (Marco Leopardi) - RAÏ (Italy)
  • Rwagasore, Life, Fight, Hope (Justine Bitagoye & Pascal Capitolin) - RTNB (Burundi)
  • Sand Wars (Denis Delestrac) - Télé Québec (Canada)
  • Tango Negro, the African roots of Tango (Dom Pedro) - TV5 Monde (France)
  • The Voice of Peace (Eric Friedler) - NDR (Germany)
     
These ten finalist programmes will be viewed from June 6 to 8, 2014 by the Final Jury, in the framework of the 54th Monte-Carlo Television Festival. The director and actor Bernard Yerlès will be Youssou N’Dour successor for the Presidency of this Jury.

The prize-giving ceremony of this Grand Prix, awarded with 3,000 Dollars, will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Hotel de Paris in Monte-Carlo in presence of many international personalities from the audiovisual world.

Created in 1949, URTI is the oldest audiovisual organization and the only one with a wholly global perspective. This professional union organizes television and radio programme exchanges, the first international audiovisual Grand Prix, coproductions, training workshops and actions for the promotion of world audiovisual creation.

URTI Radio Catalogue 2014

During last URTI Radio Commission Meeting, (February 11th 2014) attending members agreed on the fact that - from this year on - a "stock" of new rights-free radio programmes will be available for URTI radio members every year.

Being radio a "flexible" media, it will be possible for members to add contents to this library all year long, so to mirror  the international agenda.

Poposed radio contents will be collected and published on a secured website, where they will be evaluated by a commission  made of URTI radio members representatives.

If you think you can find a little time to contribute to this evaluation, please tell us : slacomba@urti.org

Offering programmes to the library is very easy. You only need to:

1) send us as (slacomba@urti.org) soon as possible an email summing up your offer, then
2) sing in on URTI website (www.urti.org) using your access codes. If you still don't have access codes, please tell us : slacomba@urti.org
3) once you're logged in, you can submit your programmes on URTI website using the on-line form (Click here to access)

PLEASE NOTE

- to be sure your programmes will get the best visibility, don't forget to provide detailed scripts! (English and/or French)
- if you whish to offer a daily show / a series, please contact us before upolading.

You can submit programmes until 14th April 2014.

The library will be available by May 2014, so to give you time enough to pick the best contents for your summer schedule!

World Television Awards 2014 : call for entries!

2014-04-01The AIBD, in collaboration with its global partners, presents the World Television Awards 2014:
  • Category Humanity for the Best Documentary on "Promoting Children's Rights"
  • Category Science/Environment for the Best Programme on: "Building Resilience to Climate Change"

“The Prize” consists of US$ 5,000.00 cash, a trophy and a certificate presented by AIBD per Award category.



Winners will be presented with their Awards during the Asia Media Summit to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 6-8 May 2014, a global gathering of broadcasters.

The deadline for the programme submission is 1st April 2014.

The World TV Awards are open to all broadcasters in Asia, Pacific, Europe, Africa, and North & South America from public, private sector and freelance producers.
