MediaCorp cordially invites you to the PBI 2011 Conference in Singapore from October 26 to 29, 2011.

 

The annual gathering of the world’s public broadcasters since 1991, Public Broadcasters International (PBI) is a platform for delegates to debate pressing issues confronting the broadcasting industry and brainstorm on solutions to address the challenges. This year, PBI will take place in Singapore from October 26 to 29, 2011 and will be hosted by the country’s leading media company, MediaCorp.
 
PBI 2011 also marks the 20th anniversary of PBI. To commemorate this significant milestone, delegates can look forward to a line-up of engaging content, informative speeches and stimulating discussions in the coming conference. Programmes and tours will be arranged for delegates to experience Singapore and delve into its rich culture.
 
Conference topics will cover funding issues, strategies to navigate the digital age, the impact of new media and the role of public broadcasters in extreme situations such as earthquake. With the constantly changing media landscape, MediaCorp welcomes your active participation at PBI 2011 inSingapore this October.

Winners of the 23rd URTI International Radio Grand Prix

2011-10-20The Jury of the 23rd URTI International Radio Grand Prix has proclames the list of the award-winners in Paris on thursday, 20th Octobre 2011. This Jury, chaired by Prof. Massimo Pettorino, included representatives of 13 countries. 105 radio programmes on "Poverty" have been presented by submitted 73 radio channels coming from 45 different countries.

 


Grand Prix URTI : Street Children

The jury has awarded this powerful, moving and deep programme, and its capability of describing a painful reality through its young protagonists' light, naive, sometimes comic way. 

Silver Medal: Interception / Le choeur y est 

Presented by: France (France Inter)

The jury has appreciated the moving and cheerful soundscapes of this programme, and chosen way to approach the proposed theme in both a realistic and optimistic way. 

Bronze Medal: The sound of the corn mortar and that of the "ken la" calling the loved one.

The jury has awarded the original point of view chosen to threat the "poverty" theme, which is considered not as a lack of material goods but as the progressive loss of a people's cultural identity. 

Special Award: Children of Sodom and Gomorrah

The jury has chosen to award this programme with the Special Award because of the technical quality of its realisation and for the choice of the sounds that mirror the social contrasts the reportage is about.

The prize-giving ceremony took place in Paris on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 6.00 pm, in the framework of the LeRadio fair (Porte de Versailles). URTI organised there at 4.00 pm its second conference on “the radio of tomorrow” with the participation of David Kessler (project leader for the Prime minister on the terrestrial digital radio), Francis Goffin (CEO of RTBF, Belgium), Amadou Vamoulke (CEO of CRTV, Cameroon), Chaouki Aloui (CEO of Tunisian Radio), Jean-Luc Hees (President of Radio France and URTI), Rachid Arhab (CSA).

In 2010, URTI confirmed its place of leader of international grand prix with the participation of 64 countries in its radio-television Grand Prix which are endowed with 15,000 dollars.

A special series of URTI programmes from the Hungarian Radio

Hungarian Radio Magyar Radio proposed a special series of radio programmes from January to June 2011, which was composed of 6 programmes selected from URTI’s catalogue.

The Hungarian Radio marked the six months of the Hungarian EU presidency by broadcasting a sequence of six programmes. The programme items were selected from among those produced by six URTI members and made available through the URTI network. The main goal was to show the specific ways of creating a programme, addressing a subject matter in different parts of the world. The list of the featured programmes is as follows:
