Call for entries: World Television Awards 2012 – Deadline extented

2012-05-01 AIBD, in collaboration with its partners, presents the World Television Awards 2012,  that will be this year assigned to the following cathegories: 
 
- Category Humanity for the Best Documentary on Promoting Religious Understanding and Tolerance"
 
- Category Science/Environment for the Best Programme on "Preserving Ozone layer and Protecting the Earth"

“The Prize” consists of US$ 5,000.00 cash, a trophy and a certificate presented by AIBD per Award category.
The winners will be rewarded during the Asia Media Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand from 29-30 May 2012, which will be a gathering of more than 700 top-ranking media professionals.

The deadline for programme submission is now extended to 
1st May 2012.

The World Television Awards are supported by United Nations Environment Programme OzonAction, Arab States Broadcasting Union, France 24, Radio France International, Monte-Carlo Doualiya, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.

World Radio Day 2012

On 3rd November 2011, the General Conference of UNESCO has approved the proposal, initiated by the Spanish Radio Academy and supported by URTI, EBU, ITU, ABU and WBU, as well as by a large number of other public and commercial Radio organizations, to proclaim 13 February as World Radio Day.
 
Being the decision to proclaim officially the Radio Day on the agenda of the forthcoming session of the UN, proper celebrations will be organized for the 2013 edition. 
Nonetheless URTI is proud of supporting this initiative since its very beguinning, and counts on the involvement of all its radio partners to make the world celebrate Radio as the most ancient media, yet evergreen, accessible to all and close to all people. 
 
For this coming 13 February URTI invites all its members to download and broadcast  an audio message by Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, in 4 languages – English, French, Spanish and Russian – which you can find clicking here 
 
On this site you can also find a variety of information and ideas to celebrate the World Radio Day, follow the  “World Radio Day London” workshop in live streaming , browse UNESCO's special sound archives and go through a great deal of statistics, written and video documents and much more. 
 
We invite you to actively participate to this initiative and to add your personal contribution, sharing with other URTI members information about World Radio Day celebrations in your radio.

Last Days to register to Radio Days Europe 2012!

2012-02-10URTI officially supports Radiodays Europe, an event bringing together private and public radios in Europe, whose 2012 edition will be held in Barcellona (Spain) from 12th to 15th March 2012. 

Radiodays Europe is an annual pan-European radio conference for leaders from public service and commercial radio as well as related industries. Radiodays Europe aims to be the best and most important radio conference in Europe, with highly sought-after speakers and sessions especially designed to ensure the best possible conference experience for the participants.

Today more than ever before it is important for the European radio industry to create a common arena for discussing radio now and in the future. Radiodays Europe is that arena – a place where representatives from public service and commercial radio can meet, discuss, network, find inspiration and perhaps even provocation. The ultimate aim is to make better radio for the listeners.
